Benefits Of Meditation

Benefits Of Meditation

The benefits of meditation are endless and certainly deserve your contemplation and consideration. Many successful business people, celebrities and sports professionals practise and enjoy the benefits of meditation. Numerous businesses promote and provide help and assistance to their staff with the benefits of meditation courses and because of this they gain an advantage over their competitors and create more profit.
Research has scientifically proven that meditation is a safe and simple way to balance your physical, emotional, and mental state and its countless values have been known and practiced for thousands of years. More and more doctors promote the benefits of meditation to cure many stress related illnesses. Everyday most of us experience stress in many different ways and I believe many people are simply not aware of the benefits of meditation or of how much stress we actually hold on to. Normally life threatening situations trigger off the stress response which enables us to act without contemplation and deliberation and survive intense situations using fast reflexes. When our bodies are exposed to a sudden threat we respond with the characteristic fight or flight reaction which is known as an adrenaline rush. When adrenaline and other hormones are released from the adrenal glands the pulse races, blood pressure increases, our breathing becomes faster and the blood flow to the muscles increases. If we are in extreme danger these reactions are of great assistance and gain to us. We have inherited this survival response from our ancestors who faced many life threatening situations every day. The same response is now triggered in our daily lives when we are in a traffic hold up or someone irritates us at work or we simply break a cup. If we do not confront the situation (and many are beyond our control) we end up being in a permanent state of stress.
One of the most important benefits of meditation is how it releases stress from our bodies. Meditation practised regularly will lead you to a deeper level of relaxation and contemplation. If you want to be free of constant worry, pressure and stress the benefits of meditation can give you a life that is calm, peaceful, happy and relaxed.
Even ten minutes of meditation a day will help alleviate stress.

Some of the benefits of meditation are:-
Reduces anxiety attacks as it lowers the levels of blood lactate.

Builds self confidence.

Increases serotonin which influences moods and behaviour. Low levels of serotonin are associated with depression, headaches and insomnia.

Enhances energy, strength and vigour.

Helps keep blood pressure normal

Reduces stress and tension

Creates a state of deep relaxation and general feeling of wellbeing

Helps with P.M.T.

Increases concentration and strengthens the mind

Helps reduce heart disease

Helps with weight loss

If you practise regularly, the benefits of meditation will promote a sense of calm and control, you’ll feel far more relaxed and happy. Your ability to concentrate will be greater. You won’t become stressed about things and you’ll feel more peaceful and relaxed about everything. One of the greatest benefits of meditation is learning to go with the flow and things that used to irritate you before simply become insignificant.

How To Meditate

How To Meditate

If you lead anything even close to a normal life, things are no doubt pretty hectic for you on a daily basis. Between working, the children, and your social life, it is easy for stress levels to get pretty high, and this is okay for a short period of time. Stress is a natural response to things that are occurring in your environment. It is your body's way of telling you that you have something in your life that needs to be taken care of. Sometimes, stress can get the best of you and that is when it is important to find a way to cope with your stress before it starts to mess with your life.
Has meditation ever crossed your mind? Meditation is becoming one of the most common methods that people are using to alleviate some of the stresses that occurs in everyday life. It isn’t difficult to meditate, but it most certainly requires a few elements that are required to maintain an atmosphere that is conducive to meditation. Here are a few tips that will help you to learn to meditate, and to do it the right way from the start. You may also get a copy of the free project meditation audio course by clicking here.

1. Creating a Peaceful Atmosphere

Creating a peaceful atmosphere is a critical and one of the most essential components of your meditation experience. Do whatever it takes to create as calm an atmosphere as you can, through whatever measures possible. Pack the children off to the babysitter, tell your husband go play poker with his buddies, and make sure your phone is silenced. Turn down the lights low and if you want put on whatever music makes you feel serene and peaceful. Choose the type of music that creates a sense of calm in you. Music can set the mood for reflection and contemplation.
2. Prepare & Set Up Your Props

Whilst you are creating your peaceful atmosphere, there may be certain “props” to help you meditate. It isn’t required that you have any, but yoga mats or cushions are great seating arenas for meditation or you may simply sit on a dining chair or easy chair. To put it frankly, if your rear end is killing you, you may not be able to focus as intensely on your meditation, cusions are very helpful. Also, things that help you relax are also good to have in your environment during your meditation. Many people like to have the small running water fountains as the sound of running water is very soothing; lighting the room with a few candles is also an effective way of ‘setting the mood’ for your meditation time.
3. Wear Comfortable And Easy Clothing

When it comes to your meditation, leave the stilettos and the diamonds at home please! Strangely, many people even choose to meditate in the buff, as it provides less of a distraction by the every day world.
If you haven’t seriously given the idea of meditation your deliberation you should soon, while you can still save your sanity!

What Is Meditation

Many people have a uninformed view of meditation and wonder, “What is meditation and what good can it do me?” While some people may have visions of monks in far off lands sitting together in silence when they think about meditation. Meditation is actually becoming a practice that is quite popular in the Western world among people from all walks of life. If you are not familiar with meditation, you may still be wondering, “What is meditation?” Essentially, the answer to the question is a simple one. Meditation is an approach that anyone can use to help them cope with medical problems, stress, and anxiety by way of thought, contemplation, and reflection.
Meditation encompasses a variety of practices that are somewhat different, while holding to the basic principles of consideration and quiet thought to bring about a state of rumination. Various types of meditation that are recognized include transcendental meditation, prayer, Zen meditation, Taoist meditation, mindfulness meditation, and Buddhist meditation. Some methods of meditation may require the body being absolutely still or to be moved with controlled deliberation, while other types allow for free movement of the body. Meditation can bring about healing of both the body and the mind by using deliberation of thought and consideration. There are various physical benefits that can be experienced when meditation is made to be a part of daily life. Some physical benefits of meditation include a decrease in blood pressure and an improvement in breathing due to the increase of air flow that gets to the lungs. Those who use meditation regularly also find that their resting heart rate is lower as well, which takes some of the stress off the heart. Chemicals in the body that are associated with stress are lower as well, which leads to less anxiety. Meditation also promotes youthful skin and a youthful appearance.
Meditation is a practice that brings about not only physical benefits, but psychological benefits as well. Bringing oneself to a state of rumination through meditation has amazing effects on the psych of a person. Relaxation and a decrease in stress are rather obvious benefits, but many people do not realize that meditation can also improve moods and memory and decrease moodiness and depression.
Now that you have some answers to the question, “What is meditation,” you may want to go on to experience the benefits of meditation for yourself. Mediation can only improve the life you are living; providing both physical and emotional benefits that will change your life in a positive way.

Yoga for Meditation

Yoga for Meditation

Yoga for meditation promotes peace of thought and health of body instead of stress. Yoga for meditation teaches both body postures for relaxation and agility as well as mind cleansing exercises that work together to bring your body to a serene state of contemplation, which helps to erase the stress of the outside world. By using the techniques of yoga for meditation you can either get rid of stress altogether or find a healthy way to turn the stress into something good in your life.
With the increasing speed of daily life, it’s more important than ever to try to find some balance. Yoga for meditation promote this type of balance, by forcing mindfulness and paying attention to your own body, bringing your attention into the moment, rather than flailing about seeking to remedy all the factors in life. Together there are many benefits of yoga for meditation.
Yoga promotes flexibility and circulation; these are the physical benefits of taking the time to pay attention to your breathing and how your body is reacting to the stimulus. Yoga doesn’t focus on rushing through the exercises, but rather on perfecting the form of movement. By focusing on perfecting the form of the exercise and your breathing, you gain benefits beyond just the physical benefits.

Practicing mindfulness though yoga for meditation allows for better awareness of your mind and body. This will create benefits beyond the physical and make you more relaxed and able to better react to stress. By helping you to be more aware of your emotional responses and how your mind reacts to stimulation, you are better able to moderate and control those responses.
Those responses will be heightened, better controlled and your energy will increase as you find yourself better able to pay attention to your ability to calm your mind. Calming your mind will lead to improving your mental clarity when performing other tasks.
Regular yoga for meditation practice will provide a greater sense of calm and control. Physically it will help with muscle control and flexibility, helping reduce strain on parts of the body. Emotional wellness comes from the awareness and understanding that comes from meditation. By becoming better aware of your mind and your body you can improve your physical, mental, and emotional health.

Meditation Instruction

Meditation Instruction

Most people at some point have attempted, researched, or at least thought about meditation. There are countless ways in which you can attempt to enter a relaxed frame of mind, and there are as many sets of instructions to help you in your meditations. With the various types of meditation techniques available today, it is easy to find one that will be comfortable for you. Meditation instructions vary as well, from CDs that guide you into a more relaxed state, to sitting quietly alone and repeating a certain word.
Some people will find it easier to achieve a state of meditation with a soft voice guiding them from their CD player. It can be easier to stay focused with this method, since the CD doesn't stray as our thoughts sometimes can. As the practice of meditation becomes easier, you may be able to enter a relaxed state without the guiding voice. One benefit of this type of instruction is that you can easily stop the CD and start over again later.
Instructions on using a 'power word' or mantra can be utilized by those who wish quiet or solitude while attempting to meditate, since they can repeat the word over and over to themselves, or even in their mind. This sort can be especially beneficial for those individuals who have busy schedules because you can basically do this anywhere. A similar type of instruction for meditating is using a focal point within yourself, such as light, and entering a state of meditation that way.
Another great way is to join a group. There you can enjoy the perks of having a teacher at your disposal. If you seem to be having trouble you can receive feedback from the instructor or the other individuals in your group. You may also find that it is easier to relax and begin meditating when you are surrounded with people who are doing the same. Support and experience can go a long way in helping you overcome any fears or insecurities about meditation.

Some people may find that breathing meditations are easier to perform. This type of meditation instruction can be extremely calming and not to mention beneficial. Slow, rhythmic breathing can induce a state of repose quite easily. You will find that this type of exercise can be done anytime and therefore easier to do for busy people.
With any type of instruction, the first time you try may be difficult. Reading on the subject, practicing and talking with other individuals about meditation may help you. Trying several different types of meditations and instructions will help to find one that is more comfortable or easier for you.
The types of instructions are vast and differ from one instructor to the next. While one person may find one sort simple, another may find it complicated. The benefits and simplicity of each type of instruction is solely based upon the person using the technique. With the endless amounts of research and deliberation on the subject of meditation, it is widely agreed that it is beneficial. Meditation is not only good for your physical self, but is also valuable for mental and emotional health as well. With the many good types of meditation instruction, everyone should be able to benefit from the practice of meditation.

Kids Meditation

Kids Meditation

Kids meditation encourages children to listen to their inner self. Kids who practice kids meditation are really getting a fantastic start in life. They will experience inner peace, happiness and calmness. Adult mediation and kids meditation are not too dissimilar so would be great to practice together.
It is natural that our life’s journey begins with self discovery. Meditation skills are simply an aid in developing the skills required for deeper self discovery that are clearly a benefit to your whole family. Children sometimes get sad, and children very often worry too much about things they simply don’t understand. Kids meditation teaches children to love themselves and be comfortable with their feelings. Kids meditation is an excellent teaching tool, for teaching the skill of deliberation and contemplation without fear. It is important to consider an extremely powerful often negative influence that infects the lives of children, peer pressure. Kids meditation is the teaching of self love. Self love and high self esteem is without question the most effective weapon against the destructive influence of peer pressure.
Children do suffer stress. Kids meditation helps children to deal with stressful situations like exams and other experiences of the human journey.

When considering kids meditation it is interesting to remember that we are all like children in the spiritual world. In fact, our children are often more aware and more advanced spiritually than ourselves. Certainly children are far more open to reception than perhaps most adults are in their early meditation experiences.
Jesus spoke the truth when he said that we “must become as children to enter the kingdom of heaven”. This is in agreement with all philosophies. The perfection of meditation is to become almost childlike in heart and mind. Therefore kids’ meditation is not introducing some strange and unusual doctrine into the lives of your children. Introducing your child to meditation is like assisting your child towards a light filled with love and wonderment.
There are many benefits for children learning kids meditation. Obviously children benefit from improved relaxation and stress reduction. Kids mediation trains children to sleep better and ultimately meditation has a very positive effect on your whole brood when families get involved. In fact kids meditation could be the key to raising happy well balanced children. Kids who have learnt to meditate perform better both academically and creatively. Kids meditation enhances concentration in children and creates better memory.
Kids meditation encourages your offspring to improve their self help skills finding real strength to grow and develop spiritually with greater self awareness and inner understanding. Kids meditation gives children power over their own thoughts and feelings, not by suppression but with understanding.  Children who meditate experience increased tranquility and are better equipped to deal with potentially stressful situations with deliberation and contemplation.

Learn the Art of Meditation

Learn the Art of Meditation

When you learn the art of meditation you will begin a journey of new horizons. The desire to learn the art of meditation is just one step, but the rest is actually making it happen. When you commit and learn the art of meditation you will create amazing benefits for yourself.
Meditation is one of the new revolutions in thinking; it has to do with changing not only the things that you think, but the way that your mind works as well, and how to control your emotions through a certain type of focus. It is not always the easiest thing to learn the art of meditation, but experts and laymen agree that the benefits of meditation are well worth the strains that one must go through to learn the art of meditation.
Meditation applies to many different aspects of life, many of which require the extra contemplation and rumination that learning the art of meditation allows. This can include a variety of things, from focusing on schoolwork, to relieving stress, to learning how to deal with a difficult acquaintance or co-worker. The idea behind meditation really is to apply a certain type of concentration and focus to a certain thought or idea and while that may sound easy enough to accomplish, not everybody is able to attain that level of focus and concentration.

There are different ways to go about learning the art of meditation, some aspects of which come a great deal more easily than others. For example, one of the roadblocks that many people face when it comes time to learn the art of meditation is all about positioning. While there is no set way or particular way to sit, the art of meditation is all about relaxation and concentration, so if the seating posture is not quite right the desired level of relaxation may be hard to attain. The key to correct seating is comfort; if you are not comfortable, you will not reach the plan you are striving to achieve. Find a place that is comfortable for you, whether it be in your favorite comfy chair or in a cool spot on the carpet in a quiet corner of your bedroom.
From seating on, if you want to learn the art of meditation it is important to know that not everybody goes about meditation the same way. Depending on what your needs are and what has caused you to try to learn the art of meditation in the first place, you might go about it a different way than other people. In order to be skilled at meditation, you don’t have to be taught by a particular person but it is important to know what you want, and go for it. If stress elimination is your problem, maintain that avenue and if self-reflection and rumination is what you are going for, concentrate on that and your purpose in life rather than other things that are not related to your motive or reason for even attempting to learn the art of meditation. How Can I Find Inner Peace

How Can I Find Inner Peace

How can I find inner peace when I am feeling so stressed out? How can I find inner peace when my whole life feels in turmoil? How can I find inner peace with all the worries and debt I have created? How can I find inner peace and escape all the chaos in the world? If you ever feel like this, take a break, sit down and carry on reading. You CAN find inner peace and I will explain how.
Everyone wants to know the answer to; how can I find inner peace? Meditation is the antidote to stress and turmoil. Inner peace is just one of the wonderful benefits meditation has to offer. There are so many possibilities that open up when you begin mediation. You can achieve anything you want in life when you understand the mind. The less you worry about, the more you can focus on what you really want.
The unrest in the world is unsettling to say the least, but the personal unrest that resides within so many of us is growing to epidemic proportions. We live in an increasingly faster, more hectic world with financial debt, demanding jobs and a higher cost of living that seems to continue to grow.
How can I find inner peace? The first step in achieving inner peace is, understanding that it is intrinsic. No amount of money or material possessions can bring it to you. There is a verse from the Tao Te Ching (pronounced dow day jing) that tells us "chase after money and security and your heart will never unclench." This is the key to inner peace. It can not be bought or traded for goods. You must reach inside of yourself and discover the peace that is there.
True inner peace comes with a contentment of what one has in their own life. It comes from finding the joy in wherever they are and releasing themselves from the bonds of desire. There is a certain calm that descends upon your being once you have accepted what you have and no longer wish to control your environment.

This is not to say that you should no longer wish to achieve your goals or dreams, but only that you should not allow those goals and dreams to consume you. There is an ancient Taoist parable that tells of a sailor who was out at sea and encountered a storm. He fought the storm as he tried to steer his boat into the wind and against the current. When his boat began to capsize, the sailor, spent from his struggles, gave in to the storm and sea. Instantly, his boat moved easily and he was able to regain his strength as he moved with the current - with nature.
When we fight against our environment and the current of our own lives, when we dwell on material wealth and center our desire on possessions there is turmoil within our spirit that hinders the stillness and tranquility of inner peace. You can not taste it, touch it or smell it, but it is ever present. Once it is present, you will feel serenity, an acceptance of the bumps in the road that would at one time have caused you to give up.
How can I find inner peace? Through contemplation and rumination. Inner peace gives you strength of spirit, but you will find that you are more flexible and accepting to change.
The Tao Te Ching also talks of flexibility and how it can help you achieve inner peace (76 S. Mitchell)
Men are born soft and supple;
dead, they are stiff and hard.
Plats are born tender and pliant; dead, they are brittle and dry.
Thus whoever is stiff and inflexible is a disciple of death.
Whoever is soft and yielding
is a disciple of life.
The hard and stiff will be broken.
The soft and supple will prevail.
To be flexible (supple) is to live and prevail.  Clear your mind, release yourself from desire and inner peace will find you.
How can I find inner peace? Upon reflection of our own lives, once we take inventory of our own desires and views, we can learn where and how to proceed. See, inner peace is not necessarily achieved by a conscious act, but by an internal change that affects how we view our world. Meditation can be a vessel of reaching this form of enlightenment. Through meditation you can reflect on your actions and find the silence of your thoughts so that the chaos is finally calmed. By Harriet Base

Mediation is usually used to relive stress but as you go on the journey you become aware of all the other great benefits you receive while practicing meditation.
Around the world, people are recognizing more and more how easy meditation is, and the kinds of benefits it can bring to their lives. At one point, not so very long ago, people thought that meditation was far too exotic and time consuming to be used by normal people with normal constraints on their lives, but in fact, nothing could be further from the truth. With a little thought and deliberation, you can make meditation part of your daily schedule and reap the many benefits that accompany it.

Discover how easy meditation is to fit in to your daily routine. With a little bit of reflection, you can easily slide five minutes worth of calm into an otherwise busy day. One of the big appeals of meditation is that you can make an oasis of calm for yourself in an otherwise hectic schedule. You will find that meditation is a great way to restore your energy and gather your wits when you might otherwise be quite scattered. Meditation is something that has gone from being a fringe interest to a corporate sensation for a very good reason!
You may or may not be aware that all meditation puts your mind into a passive state. In this state, you can see things more clearly and take a clear and unclouded look at your life. While this might seem difficult, with a little practice, you will soon be able to meditate as easily as you daydream. Meditation, like any other state of mind can be cued. Just like you might feel sad when you hear a specific song, you can cue your mind to enter a meditative state at certain sounds (like chimes or singing bowls) or even smells (try sandalwood incense). As time goes on, you won't need the cues at all and you'll be able to simply put yourself into the meditative state easily.
With a little bit of effort and an investment of time and interest, you will see how easy meditation really is. Meditation is an easy way to improve your mindset and thus, improves your life as well! By Sam Norton
